Dear Soundlounger,
This Friday we bring you The Millionaire$ - a fantastically famous band comprising Brendan Gallagher and Michael Galeazzi from Karma Country, Jim Elliott from The Cruel Sea and Dave McCormack, formerly of Custard and The Titanics. These guys are all talented and absolutely well-travelled, and their Millionaire$ side project offers them all an outlet to make some serious fun!
The players in The Millionaire$ have all achieved success in their other bands, and performing together as The Millionaire$, do country-inspired pop with all the fun and charm they can muster. Classics such as Faith and These Boots are Made for Walking are delivered with cheeky grins and an air of country-fied soul!
Brendan Gallagher is best known as lead singer/guitarist with legendary Australian band, Karma County. Brendan has worn many hats during his career - everything from manager, performer, A&R executive to sound engineer, booker and publicist, and continues to make his mark on the world in The Millionaire$.
Sydney bassist and composer Michael Galeazzi - best known for his work with Karma County and jazz outfit The Java Quartet - also features in The Millionaire$. Michael continues to be well-regarded in the industry and his more than 10 years with Karma County speaks volumes about his industry endurance!
Jim Elliot joins The Millionaire$ from The Cruel Sea - a band that started out as a purely instrumental outfit in 1988, performing in inner-city Sydney pubs and who, with the addition of a young singer named Tex Perkins, went on to become one of Australia's most popular outfits. Jim Elliott was part of The Cruel Sea phenomenon that was received nationally to widespread acclaim.
David McCormack spent 10 years as singer/songwriter in sentimental indie favourites Custard. Born out of heat-wave boredom in Brisbane, Custard went on take their rightful place in the pop music charts of the 90s. Dave started his solo career in 2002 with the release of a CD simply called "Candy", and formed The Polaroids - a 5-piece rock and roll band to help him record and accompanying him on tour.
As you can see, there's some big music industry names here folks, and their collectively unique interpretation of the world through their music is a bunch of good fun!
The Millionaire$ are supported this Friday at The SoundLounge by Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side.
Next week we welcome back Christopher Ernst, supported by James Grehan.
Tickets for all shows are available on-line at thesoundlounge.com.au

THE MILLIONAIRE$ are an Australian indie supergroup featuring David McCormack (Custard), Jim Elliott (Cruel Sea) and Brendan Gallagher & Michael Galeazzi both of Karma County. Between them they have won ten ARIAs and played every major venue and festival in the country over the last fifteen years. These long time music buddies have been playing together since April 2007, hog tying their favourite songs from every music era from Merle Haggard to Depeche Mode, The Fab Four to Steve Miller, Bob Dylan to Britney Spears and corralling them into long distance, sweaty Grateful Dead-like live shows.
Their debut album Sentimental Horses sees them making their own 21st century, country music take on songs from Doris Day, George Michael, Marianne Faithfull and some new original compositions. Sentimental Horses drips with life and fun capturing these four great musicians performing at the top of their game.
"To the lost souls of 21st century with false memories of Waylon Jennings in his thirsty days looking out over the Nashville Skyline when Sunday morning was comin' down... this one's for you."

It was a triumphant year for Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side. In 2004 they released their debut album 'The Beginning of the End' (featuring the JJJ hit of the same name plus got heaps of airplay on channel 7's Last Man Standing and Rage), toured this wide, brown land several times and supported the likes of 'Rocket Science', 'The Handsome Family' and 'Calexico', as well as their own shows. By contrast, the band has been relatively quiet on the live front during 2005. They haven't been idle during this time, however, choosing instead to spend their days in the seclusion of Melbourne's Atlantis Studios. Within this seething den of iniquity they have spent their time inhaling stale cigarette smoke, drinking whiskey and beer, whilst chiselling away at their soon to be released sophomore effort under the evil gaze of producer Loki Lockwood.
