Dear Soundlounger,
The extra-long weekend has thrown out the timing of our SoundLounge What's On email - forgive us, we're only human! This Friday we've got a great show in store for you: a fabulous international artist hot on the heels of last Sunday's fabulous international artist. Why travel round the world in search of great music when you've got it right here at home? Join us this Friday March 28 in welcoming Rory McLeod (UK) to The SoundLounge.
Stories and anecdotes about Rory and his shows are as plentiful as the stories and anecdotes of the man himself! Currently on tour Downunder, London-born Rory has spent his life travelling the world, singing and performing in the finest traditions of a real-life troubadour!
Since releasing his first album in 1985, Rory has gone on to become a familiar face in the UK's folk and everything-but-folk circles, and has released a further seven albums, including his most recent, 'Songs For Big Little People' (2007).
Aside from his evident musical talent, Rory has explored and exploited his other abundant talents, and lived as a vagabond and a preacher, a circus clown and a fire-eater, an activist and an aid worker. His experiences across the board, plus his travelling tales - both tall and true - form the foundation of his energetic, original music.
See Rory this Friday, performing with good friend Tonchi McIntosh. As always, doors open at 7.30, for an 8.30 start.
NEXT WEEK we humbly offer three shows for your musical enjoyment - with something for everyone. On Thursday April 3, we present Canada's own Dan Mangan, Friday April 4 sees the welcomed return and last SoundLounge show ever of the much-loved stringmansassy duo, and on Sunday we raise the roof with the truly live and incredibly loud British India.
Please be aware that each show will be amazing in it's own way..!
We look forward to seeing you again soon! Enjoy your Life!
Warm regards,
Ben, Rob and
The SoundLounge Team

Rory Mcleod - ex-circus clown and fire-eater. A one-man soul band, poet and storyteller, singing his own unique upbeat dance stories. A modern travelling troubadour using tap shoes, a cappella, harmonica, guitar, trombone, spoons, finger cymbals, bandorea, djembe and various percussion instruments!
"I've travelled to look for work, to mend a broken heart, to be with someone I longed for. I'd travel to visit friends and on the way I'd make new ones, I'd roam because I was curious to see what was around the next corner, sometimes I travelled to follow the warmer weather and migrate... like the birds and the big whales and fishes do". Rory
Once seen never forgotten, a truly unique performer who never gives less that his all no matter what the circumstances.
" 'The charismatic British storytelling troubadour, proved to be very entertaining as he tripped passionately through highly original and distinctive self-penned material......(Beat Magazine)

Tonchi McIntosh grew up in Bourke and has Mexican blood running through his veins on his Mother's side. He sings, his voice full of warmth and emotion, of Australia with a clear-sighted passion for the land and its traditional owners, moving from acoustic folk/rock to electric and touches of reggae and country. This mixture of musical forms enfolds his lyricism, and one of his strengths is the meshing of imagery, be it allegorical or as raw and rich as the red earth of the outback.
